Services, price tiers and memberships: how they fit together
How what clients book relates to what they buy, explained with an example.
Before setting anything up, it helps to be clear on five words:
| Concept | What it is | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Service | What happens on the calendar and clients book | Pilates |
| Price tier | The family of memberships that gives access to a service | Pilates tiers |
| Membership | The product the client buys | 10-session Pilates pack |
| Purchase | The actual sale to a client | Ana buys the 10-pack on 3 March |
| Balance | The sessions left on that purchase | 7 sessions available |
How they connect
A service links to a price tier, not to each membership. That way, any membership in that tier can be used to book the service.
Example:
- Training tier: Single session, 5-pack, 10-pack and Monthly 2 days/week.
- The Personal training service accepts the Training tier.
- A client with the 10-pack can book Personal training.
- A client with a Physiotherapy pack can't, unless the service also accepts the Physiotherapy tier.
When a client books, Momento checks they have a valid purchase, within its dates, with sessions left and from a tier the service accepts.
Tip: if a client says they can't book, the first thing to check is whether the service accepts their membership's tier.
